OUR STORY

Four generations. One century. One purpose.

From the markets of Sylhet to the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, the purpose has never changed: understand the requirement, protect the relationship and carry the responsibility through.

BEFORE THE MODERN MAP

We know where we come from.

Long before the borders that define the region today, Bengal was one of the great commercial civilisations of the world.

From the fourteenth century, the independent Sultanate of Bengal stood as a major trading nation in its own right. It minted its own currency, the taka, a name Bangladesh carries on its money to this day. Its ports received merchants from Arabia, Persia, China and, in time, Europe. When Portuguese traders reached the region in the sixteenth century, they named its principal harbour Porto Grande de Bengala, the Grand Port of Bengal, a measure of its standing in the maritime world. Its weavers produced muslin so fine it became a byword for luxury in courts a continent away.

Under the Mughals, Bengal became the wealthiest province of one of the wealthiest empires on earth. The emperor Aurangzeb called it the paradise of nations. By 1700, the region accounted for an estimated twelve per cent of world GDP, and its goods alone made up forty per cent of Dutch imports from all of Asia. Bengal did not participate in global trade. Bengal was one of its centres.

The centuries that followed redrew the map many times. Bengal became part of British India. British India became East Pakistan. East Pakistan became Bangladesh, a young state carrying an old commercial memory. Through every change of flag, the trading instinct endured, passed between generations as a way of working: know your goods, honour your word, protect your name.

That is the tradition the family carries from Sylhet. Not a claim to history, but an inheritance of standards.

The states changed. The trade remained. So did we.

FOUR GENERATIONS OF ENTERPRISE

The story did not begin with a company registration.

In the early twentieth century, the family’s commercial roots were established in Sylhet through the trading of grain and livestock. Business was personal. Reputation travelled quickly, commitments mattered and trust determined whether relationships endured.

During the 1950s, the next generation travelled to the United Kingdom, arriving with little beyond the habits the trade had taught them. By the 1960s, the family had established its first commercial presence in Britain, built the hard way: long hours, careful commitments and a name that had to be earned in a new country.

The tradition continued in 1996, when the next generation established its own independent enterprise, extending the family’s commercial interests in the UK.

In 2008, the President joined the family business. The years that followed were an education in the fundamentals: serving customers, managing suppliers, honouring commitments and understanding that a business survives on what it delivers, not what it promises.

In 2017, he began his independent business journey in the United Arab Emirates. Over the years that followed, he built the relationships, commercial interests and cross-border capability that would become the foundation of something larger.

In 2025, those businesses, relationships and ambitions were brought together under one identity: RMX®.

Today, the industries are broader and the markets more international. The principles remain the ones learned across four generations: understand the requirement, protect the relationship, communicate clearly and carry the responsibility through.

The geography is new. The purpose is not.

Today the enterprise spans three continents, with presence in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. RMX® operates from the UAE through specialist businesses across trade, aviation, aerospace, technology, agriculture, energy, capital, projects, robotics, maritime and development.

The map has changed many times since the first generation traded in Sylhet. The way of working has not.

One identity.

RMX® is not a beginning. It is the consolidation of four generations of enterprise, brought under one identity in 2025 and carried across one century and three continents.
